A great base for exploring the historic jewels and natural splendours of Andalucia, including the beautiful natural parks, glorious beaches of the Mediterranean, plus the wonderful cities of Malaga and Seville.

Surrounded by olive groves and rural views of mountains and undulating hills, It is a rural and idyllic area suitable for walkers, bird watchers, cyclists and people who just want to relax alike.

We are located in the parish of Comares. However, the village of Riogordo is a little closer and easier to get to, both villages have lots to offer - Riogordo with its many bars and restaurants, plus good shops. Comares also having bars and restaurants, which also has the most stunning views to offer and is a great walking area.

Try one of the many bars and restaurants in the local villages to sample local wines and delicacies, the nearest being Ortega (1.5km) which is renowned for its roast lamb.

There are large communal swimming pools open in July and August in both villages, (most villages having community pools).

We can offer to arrange the following activities, please enquire.

  • Pony Trekking or Beginners Classes.

  • Richard can take you off-road in our 7 seater 4x4 if you so desire.

  • The area lends itself to walking and mountain biking.

  • Restaurants recommended.

  • Bird watching.

  • Star gazing in a very unpolluted sky.

  • 5 walking routes all around Comares.

  • Less than an hours drive are numerous beaches, shopping, city culture, water parks , cinema.

  • The pretty resort of Nerja with its famous caves.

  • The well kept beach resort of Torre Del Mar, with its long promenade, numerous parks and many varied eateries.

  • Mountain drives as long or as short as you wish to make them.

  • Malaga city centre is under an hour away. We highly recommend a visit to the 'old quarter' with its narrow streets and Juliet balconies - stunning. The old Moorish castle (free on Sunday afternoons) and many museums are just some of the attractions the City has to offer.

  • The beautiful historic city of Granada is reachable by car in less than 2 hours - don't forget to book a visit to the Alhambra Palace.

  • The cities of Seville, Cordoba and Cadiz are also 2 hours drive, as is the beautiful town of Ronda, plus many many more. If a little bit of the UK takes your fancy, Gibraltar is just a day out from 'Godines'.

Antequera & El Torcal

El Torcal

A magnificent limestone barrier that wind and water has carved into incredible bizarre shapes.

Using your imagination you can see castles, reptiles, animals and faces, particularly at twilight.

This is a good time to spot the Ibex that roam wild in the park and the Eagles that can be seen spiraling in the thermals above.

From the visitor area there are two well signposted walks well worth experiencing.

Antequera

An hour's drive away is the town of Antequera which has been inhabited since the Bronze Age.

The town is a delight for those who love old buildings, churches and convents.

For me the most spectacular architecture in Antequerra are the mysterious Dolmens, burial tombs dating from more than 4.000 years ago.

El Chorro

"El Chorro" is a magnificent limestone gorge.

It is an awe-inspiring and daunting gorge with a catwalk known as "El Camino del Rey" pinned to the side of the bare rock face.

"El Chorro", along with the nearby "Valle de Abdalajis" is renowned for its rock climbing and para-gliding.
